My turkeys will produce a variety of colours in their offspring but I have found that the 'lavender like'
colour is most common but other colours such as tan and brown occur.
www.feathersite.com has useful information on colours available. Some of which are not currently available in the UK and some colours are
called different things in USA but its still a good site.
Classed as a light breed of turkey, these still make a good weight if rearing
for meat.
Excellent layers, achieving results a hen would be proud of! They do
go broody but are daft as brushes so I wouldnt recommend trying to rear poults under them.
Docile, trainable birds with lots of character.
Turkey poults must be fed on turkey crumb followed by turkey grower.
They need the extra protein in the feed to help them grow properly and will not do well on normal poultry grower rations.
Worming is recommended for turkey poults as with peafowl at around 3 weeks
old even if kept indoors.
No Hatching eggs are available as hens gone broody
